Planes, Trains & Automobiles Night of the Child
2008
The 11th Annual Night of the Child was filled with the music from
members of the Cheyenne Youth Symphony Orchestra, the sights of vintage
and classic automobiles and punctuated by train whistles and bells.
Guests were entertained by the emcee, Coach Joe Glenn. As always, he
kept everyone smiling with his stories from life and jokes while still
stressing the importance of keeping children safe. The 2008 Knight of
the Child was awarded posthumously to Art Mercer, a great friend and
supporter of Prevent Child Abuse Wyoming. His designation was accepted
by his daughter, Ann Mercer. A beautiful slide show of Art’s life was
presented with the accompanying strains of his and Mildred’s favorite
songs. The evening raised over $10,000 for programs and education to all
families in Wyoming who need assistance. These programs provide the
tools needed to have a successful parenting experience and resources for
those who are struggling. Watch this site for the announcement of next
year’s event…
